Scenically located in the “Braes of Balquhidder” (made famous in the original poem on which the song “Wild Mountain Thyme” is based), it is an area steeped in the history of Rob Roy and the McGregor Clan.

Rob Roy spent much of his life at Balquhidder and is buried in the village churchyard.

Visit historic Doune that boasts a magnificent 14th century courtyard castle, once the ancestral home of the Earls of Moray. You can also browse around the Antique and Arts centre just outside Doune.
Take the Kids to the Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre which offers a fascinating array of animals, kids play area, café and shop.
